Throughout the year there are a variety of festivals held in the area. Some of which are:
Hay Festival runs for 10 days each year and is usually around the end of May. The festival has been running since 1987 and has grown from strength to strenth each year, attracting people from all over the world who come to see the many writers & artists that are there to share their stories.
The Festival takes place in the dedicated space on the out skirts of Hay-on-Wye and hosts a huge variety of shows, talks and conferences. There is also plenty to see in the town its self, the local shops, businesses and entertainment venues creating a vibrant atmosphere with a lot to explore and experience.
Hay Festival for 2019 runs from Thursday 23rd May to Sunday 2nd June
Hay Winter Festival runs 28th November – 1st December 2019

The Royal Welsh Show is the largest agricultural show in Europe. The show runs for 4 days each July, showcasing Welsh livestock and high-quality food and drink produced in Wales. It offers a huge range of activities including forestry, horticulture, crafts, countryside sports, Sports Village and exciting entertainment making it an ideal event for both adults and young people alike.
There is also The Royal Welsh Winter Fair, a two day show with prestigious stock competitions along with the festive atmosphere of Welsh produce and crafts stalls.
The Royal Welsh Summer Show runs from 22nd – 25th July 2019

The Brecon Jazz is a music festival held in August each year, in the town of Brecon. Lasting for 3 days this festival plays host to host to a range of musicians (not just Jazz) who travel from across the world to take part as well as attracting many tourists to the area. This music festival offers a fabulous social scene and other leisure opportunities in and around the Brecon Beacons.

This festival is designed to welcome Walkers at any level of experience and introduce them to the beauty and surroundings of our local area. From easy, low level walks to harder, longer distance routes, each walk is guided by an experienced leader. There are limited spaces on each walk to ensure comfort and safety of the group, so booking is necessary. There is plenty to do and explore in the village and surrounding area and well worth a visit for anyone intrigued in history and wildlife.
